The Defence ministry has agreed to extend the timings at the Visakhapatnam airport by 4 hours on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, till 24x7 operations are started.
In a written communication to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday, Defence minister A K Antony said that the matter has been examined.
"Considering the immediate nature of the requirement, the watch hours of INS Dega Visakhapatnam would be extended to 22.55 hours for 3 days in a week from October 1st for a duration of six months to meet the requirements of the proposed operations," he said.
Antony, in his letter, said that the manpower proposal for the 24X7 operation of the Visakhapatnam airport is under consideration. (INN)
