YSRCP Fields Vijaya Sai Reddy For RS Election
Jagan announced the Party's general secretary, his trusted lieutenant and the auditor of his companies as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today announced the Party's general secretary, his trusted lieutenant and the auditor of his companies Vijaya Sai Reddy as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
There are four MP seats in Andhra Pradesh, and the YSRCP will get one seat based on its numbers in the Assembly.
After a meeting with Party leaders, Jagan took the decision to field Vijaya Sai Reddy for the seat.
A notification was released on May 24 for the filling of 57 seats across 15 States, and nominations are being accepted till June 3. The elections will be held on June 11.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Jagan said that Vijaya Sai Reddy was being fielded for Rajya Sabha election due to his loyalty to the Party and his ethical values.
He also took exception to the Telugu Desam Party supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister encouraging defections and "purchasing" YSR Congress MLAs.
Jagan alleged that Naidu was luring his Party's legislators with money and dumping them later.
"Though some vested political interests built pressure against me in unfair cases, Vijaya Sai Reddy followed ethics, believed in the truth and promised to tell only the truth only," Jagan said.
Meanwhile, Vijaya Sai Reddy filed his nomination with the returning officer and extended thanks to the Party and those who supported him for the RS seat.
