VHR Faults Governor For Roaming Around Temples
Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao alleged that "panthulla petthanam" (brahmins' domination) had increased after Narsimhan's arrival in the State as Governor.
Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao made a startling statement against Telangana (and Andhra Pradesh) Governor E S L Narsimhan, alleging that common devotees were facing problems due to the latter's roaming around temples frequently.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Rao commented on the Governor conducting a panchanga sravanam a day before the Ugadi festival. Asking the Governor whether he had come to the State to read the Panchangam, VHR alleged that "panthulla petthanam" (brahmins' domination) had increased after Narsimhan's arrival in the State as Governor.
VHR also complained about the Governor visiting Tirumala frequently, and also faulted him for roaming in Tirupati without a shirt though the President himself maintained protocol during his Tirumala darshan.
Stating that the Ugadi panchanga sravanam had turned into a political panchangam in the Telugu States, VHR lamented that the pandits were reading the panchangam in favor of whichever political party they were reading out the panchangam for.
"The Ugadi Panchangam will lose its value if this trend continues," he opined.
