Industrialist Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy today filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections from Andhra Pradesh as a YSR Congress candidate.
On behalf of the YSR Congress Party, industrialist Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy today filed his nomination papers to contest in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Andhra Pradesh.
The biennial elections for three RS seats from the state will be held on March 23.
Reddy filed three sets of nomination papers with the A P Legislature Secretary and Returning Officer K Satyanarayana. He was accompanied by YSRCP MLAs Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy and Anil Kumar Yadav. Prabhakar Reddy's wife Prasanthi Reddy also filed her nomination as a "dummy" candidate.
The YSRCP has 44 MLAs in the 176-member AP Assembly after 22 of its MLAs switched over to the ruling Telugu Desam Party in the last two years. Prabhakar Reddy will get elected if all the 44 MLAs vote for him. On its own strength, the TDP can win two seats in the elections.
