Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA K Tarakarama Rao, on Saturday, expressed confidence that the people of the region would vote for Telangana statehood in the by-elections being held for 6 Assembly segments on 18 March.
Talking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said that the voters would teach both the Congress and the TDP a "fitting lesson", for having "cheated" the people on the statehood issue. He held the parties responsible for the suicide of 800 Telangana students.
Responding to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu's campaign, he said that the people of the region would not believe their "hollow promises", and that they would never forget their ambivalent stand on the Telangana issue.
Slamming Naidu for targeting TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao in the name of "money, votes and seats", KTR challenged Naidu to a discussion on the properties they both (KCR and Naidu) had amassed since their entry into politics.
If Naidu does not approach courts seeking bail, he would have counted bars in prison, KTR said.
KTR said that he was ready to be hanged in public if Naidu proves that KCR had minted money when the Polavaram tenders were being awarded. He also said Naidu must dissolve his party if he fails to prove his allegations against KCR. (INN)
