The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Wednesday announced that it would contest the next elections on its own.
Talking to reporters, TRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao said that the party would have no tie-ups with other political parties for the next polls.
Describing the Congress as the main obstacle in the formation of a Telangana state, he said that the TRS would contest the next elections on the slogan of "Congress Khatam Karo - Telangana Haasil Karo" ("finish the Congress to achieve Telangana").
Harish Rao said that the party would discuss the strategy for the next elections along with plans for intensifying the Telangana agitation during the "Suryapet Samarabheri" to be held on November 25.
He said that several issues pertaining to the Telangana region would also be discussed during the proposed meeting.
Stating that the TRS would not conduct any negotiations with the Congress High Command over the Telangana issue, Harish Rao said that the ruling party has repeatedly cheated the people of the region on the matter.
Referring to Chandrababu Naidu, he said that the TDP chief must specify that he is in favour of Telangana, instead of reiterating that he "had never opposed the formation of a separate state". (INN)
