The Leader of the Opposition strongly condemned the defection of Congress MLAs to the TRS, and demanded that all defectors be disqualified immediately.
Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy on Tuesday alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi was incapable of running the State Government.
Speaking in the Telangana Assembly on Tuesday before the suspension of the Congress MLAs for a day, Reddy accused the TRS of breaking all laws and democratic practices.
He strongly condemned the defection of Congress MLAs to the TRS, and demanded that all those legislators be disqualified with immediate effect.
Responding to an allegation levelled by Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao, Reddy clarified that in the past he did not join another Party while in power.
He said that he had quit the party and the MLA's post in 1989 before joining another Party.
Similarly, Jeevan Reddy did not defect to another Party while in power either, he said.
He said that the Congress MLAs who had joined the TRS should have resigned from their posts before leaving the Party, and should re-seek election.
Jana Reddy alleged that the TRS encouraged defections to weaken the Congress Party so as to escape facing serious debates on public issues. (INN)
