The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Sunday claimed that it was all set to emerge as the strongest party in the Old City of Hyderabad with the highest number of registered members.
In a media statement, TRS senior leader Rashid Shareef claimed that the TRS membership drive in the Old City had been receiving tremendous response, and that so far thousands of people had enrolled themselves both as Primary and Active members.
"We have enrolled 3,500 members in just one hour of the launching of our special membership drive at TRS Bhavan, the Old City headquarters of our party. Deputy Chief Mahmood Ali launched the drive at about 5:30 pm on Sunday, and by 6:30 pm, 3,500 new members completed their enrollment," he informed.
The Deputy Chief Minister directly supervised the membership drive and handed over the membership slips to the new members. He announced that besides an identity card, the new members would also be given an insurance cover of Rs 2 lakhs.
"Encouraged by the tremendous response, we have decided to keep the TRS Old City headquarters open 24x7 till February 20 to facilitate enrollment of new members," said Rashid Shareef.
He claimed that 13th to 15th February turned out to be a super weekend for the TRS in the Old City with the party enrolling thousands of new members. Impressed with the welfare schemes being implemented by the TRS government, thousands of people were joining the party, he said.
Rashid Shareef said that the TRS already had the distinction of being the only political party with a dedicated headquarters for the Old City, and that soon it would be the party with the highest number of members.
He said that those interested in joining the party could visit the TRS Bhavan at Etebar Chowk on Mir Alam Mandi Road in the Old City any time till February 20. (INN)
