The High Court of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday permitted the Telangana government to conduct the Intensive Household Survey on August 19.
Giving its judgment on a petition filed challenging the legality of the survey, the High Court clarified that the survey should be optional as people had a right to decide on their participation in the survey.
It also asked the government not to trouble people by seeking personal details.
Earlier, the Advocate General assured the court that the government had no plans to intrude into the personal lives of the people.
He said the survey was being conducted for the effective implementation of the government's welfare schemes. (INN)
