Telangana activists have now declared that they will not allow any IPL match to be played in Telangana.
Apparently, the fact that the stadium, a stone’s throw away from the Osmania University – the hub of the student Telangana movement – being run by an Andhra association, is offending the Telangana agitators.
Students have said that even though the DGP Girish Kumar is assuring players of security, they will not have any matches played in Hyderabad. They’ve also warned of dire consequences if the matches do go ahead.
The DGP, however, has brushed off these warnings. Earlier,
the IPL organizers had shifted the opening ceremony and match to Mumbai following security concerns in the wake of the Telangana agitations. The DGP had, later, sought to make the organizers reconsider their decision by assuring them of complete security.
