The Telangana government today conducted former Prime Minister late P V Narasimha Rao's 94th birth anniversary celebrations in a grand manner at the P V Gnana Bhoomi on Necklace Road.
Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiam Srihari and Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, ministers T Harish Rao, P Mahender Reddy and T Nageshwar Rao, MP Boora Narsaiah Goud, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma and family members of the late Prime Minister were among those who offered floral tributes to the departed leader.
They also released an album titled "Kala Sudha" comprising paintings of Surabhi Vanidevi, daughter of P V Narasimha Rao, on the occasion.
TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, Telangana CLP leader K Jana Reddy, MP V Hanumantha Rao, TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, APCC Chief N Raghuveera Reddy, K V P Ramachandra Rao and others also paid homage to the departed leader.
Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Narasimha Reddy said the TRS government would follow the ideals of late Rao, who was a son of Telangana.
PV was noted for introducing revolutionary financial reforms that resulted in the progress of every sector in the country, and the Telangana government would not forget PV's services, Reddy said.
Boora Narsaiah Goud said Narasimha Rao was a great man who strove at the national level for the cause of poor and the deprived classes. The TRS government would press the Centre to construct a PV memorial at Delhi, he added.
The Congress leaders said PV had left an indelible mark through his services for the poor. The entire world had appreciated PV's financial reforms, they said, and appealed to the various governments to emulate his services.
PV's son P V Rajeshwar Rao and other family members said it was the TRS government that gave recognition to the former Prime Minister. They lamented that the previous governments had failed to recognize services of the stellar leader. (NSS)
