Across Telangana, citizens, police officials and government representatives came together to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, "the Iron Man of India", through multiple events celebrating unity and integrity.
Through unity runs and patriotic reflections, the State paid tribute to Patel, amplifying his message of national unity, integrity and pride.
In Hyderabad, the Cyberabad Police organized a 2-km "Run For Unity" at the T-Hub Gate in Madhapur with the theme "Let us come together to strengthen the spirit of Ekta Diwas and promote fitness, harmony, and community spirit". The event drew over 500 participants, including police personnel, tech professionals and community members.
The run was flagged off by DCP (Madhapur) Ritiraj, who paid rich tributes to Patel for uniting the princely States and laying the foundation for a strong, integrated India.
"Finishing is as important as starting - do not quit, never stop. We ran for unity, we stand for unity," she said, and urged the participants to carry forward the message of determination and teamwork.
Senior officers, including ADCP Uday Reddy, ACPs Ch Sridhar and Ch Y Srinivas Kumar, and SCSC CEO Naved Khan, joined the run, reaffirming the police's role in fostering unity and community engagement.
The Indian Book of Records also felicitated the Madhapur Zone Police for their active participation.
Simultaneously, a 3-km "Run For Unity" was held in the Medchal Zone under the leadership of DCP N Koti Reddy. The event, which began at the Ayodhya X Roads and concluded at the Ram Reddy Function Hall, Gowdavelly, saw enthusiastic participation from over 500 students representing Yashoda Nursing College, CMR College, Malla Reddy University, and various youth organisations.
Addressing the gathering, Koti Reddy said that the run was a tribute to Sardar Patel's monumental role in unifying the nation. He spoke about discipline, fitness and civic responsibility as essential virtues for the youth in building a stronger and more harmonious India.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony honouring outstanding participants and encouraging youth involvement in community initiatives.
