The 2nd day of the relay fasts at the Indira Park by the Telangana JAC leaders protesting for separate statehood for Telangana was inaugurated by ex-Minister Damodar Reddy today. At the inauguration, Damodar Reddy accused those who were planning peace rallies that they were traitors to the cause of Telangana who were trying to shift attention from the movement and change its course.
The relay fasts are one of several initiatives by the JAC to keep the focus on the movement and keep people motivated. Other protests are happening across the Telangana region in support of the movement, including relay fasts by doctors, illegal imprisonment by citizens of AP Transco employees who went to collect electricity dues, human garlands and blocking convoys of leaders passing through the area (today it was Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao's turn at Bijinepalli in Mahbubnagar).
Statements by various leaders trying to stay in the news also flew thick and fast. TDP MLA/leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that CM Rosaiah was trying to escape responsibility by constantly saying that the decision about Telangana was not in his hands. TRS MP Vijayasanthi said that Chidambaram hears our everyone but never tells what the Congress stand on Telangana is. Congress MP Manda Jagannatham said that the DGP Girish Kumar cannot make statements in his personal capacity while being DGP of the state.
Otherwise, life goes on.
