Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao today claimed that Telangana had become a model for development in the country, and was being acknowledged by national and international organizations such as the RBI, Niti Ayog and the United Nations.
During the discussion on the Motion of Thanks for the Governor's address in the Assembly, KTR praised the BRS government for having overcome various challenges in the past eight and a half years plaguing the State including in irrigation, drinking water and power supply, and helping it emerge as a key State in the development of the nation.
KTR also claimed that Telangana was contributing to the nation's growth by producing an abundance of food grains and paying the highest taxes.
The minister also said that Telangana was the only State in the country that had transferred Rs 65,000 crore to 65 lakh farmers as investment assistance under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He also refuted the allegations that only the affluent were benefiting from the Rythu Bandhu scheme, and said that 98.6% of agriculture lands belonged to small and marginal farmers, with only 1.39% belonging to those with over 10 acres of land.
KTR also stated that under the Dalit Bandhu scheme, aimed at empowering the dalit community economically, 16,000 units had been established so far, and that the Centre for Economic and Social Studies was studying the scheme to gauge the impact on the livelihood of the dalit community.
KTR criticized the union government claiming that it had failed to fulfill the people's aspirations, and for the "high" inflation and unemployment rates in the country. He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having promoted crony capitalism.
