Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday stated that Telangana inherited huge debts right on the first day of its formation.
Speaking on the Appropriation Bill 2014-15 in the State Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister said that Telangana had a surplus budget of Rs 2,544.78 crores. However, it inherited nearly Rs 1,500 crores in dues towards fee reimbursement.
He said that the government had so far cleared Rs 500 crores towards fee reimbursement dues, and would clear the remaining amount soon.
Similarly, the government owed nearly Rs 700 crores to the road contractors. Citing non-clearance of old dues, the contractors were not willing to take up new projects initiated by the Telangana Government.
KCR informed the House that the State Government had earned Rs 25,947 crores since the formation of the new State.
Reiterating that his government would fulfill all the promises that it had made to the people, he said that revenues were being mobilised from all sources without burdening any sector.
He condemned the delay in the division of the employees and the allotment of cadre, and said that the shortage of staff had badly hit the functioning of the government of the new State.
The Chief Minister announced the regularisation of houses situated on 50-75 square yards of land.
He listed out the schemes being implemented by the government, and promised that he would not seek votes from the people if he failed to provide tapped water to each and every household in the State in the next four years.
He also assured that the entire State would get 24x7 power supply after three years.
He said that the health services were being improved across the State, and that 927 new vehicles were being added to the 104 & 108 Ambulance fleet. (INN)
