Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, on Tuesday, accused the Congress party of exploiting the sentiments of Telangana and Seemandhra in order to reap political benefits in both the regions.
Addressing a press conference at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Naidu said that the Congress party's decision to bifurcate the state was aimed at winning the maximum number of seats in the Telangana region with the help of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Further, he said, the Congress wants to transfer "anti-Congress votes" in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema to the YSR Congress party.
With this equation, the Congress wants to enjoy the support of the maximum number of MPs from the state in the Lok Sabha after the next elections, he said.
He added that the Congress would not succeed in its plans, and even said that the decision to bifurcate the state was taken in haste due to the party's fear that the TDP would return to power in the next elections.
Naidu also slammed the Congress-led UPA government for its failure to maintain the economic growth rate. He said that the government's wrong policies have pushed the entire country into an economic crisis.
"The administration has come to a halt, and situation has turned so bad that it resembles the conditions that prevailed during Emergency," he said.
The TDP president also held the Centre responsible for the rising prices of all essential commodities. (INN)
