The Telangana Congress has challenged the TRS government ruling Telangana, especially Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, to an open debate on its performance during the last 17 months.
TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy released a booklet titled "50 Questions On 500 Days Of TRS Misrule" compiled by the Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Uttam Kumar alleged that the TRS government had been making false claims about its performance. Beginning with a U-turn on the promise of making a Dalit the Chief Minister, KCR had cheated in several ways, and several people, including the families of several Telangana martyrs by reducing the numbers qualifying as martyrs to 481. The cases related to the Telangana agitation had still not been withdrawn and hundreds of students were still facing trial in the courts. Besides, KCR had sacked a Dalit Deputy CM, Dr T Rajaiah, on the charge of indulging in corrupt activities, though KCR had himself not followed suit despite being questioned by the CBI in the ESI hospitals' construction scam.
Shabbir Ali ridiculed KCR's claim that almost 99% of the promises he had made had been fulfilled. On the contrary, he said that not even 9% of the promises had been fulfilled by the TRS government. The Congress was, therefore, ready for an open debate on the issue before the media and the public in the TRS Bhavan, he said.
MLCs Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and Akula Lalitha were present on the occasion.
