The Telangana unit of the Congress today organised celebrations across the state to observe the birthday of national Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi.
As part of this, the NSUI, the student wing of the party, organised a free vaccination camp while the Congress OBC and Minority Cells organised the distribution of free rice and groceries at the Gandhi Bhavan.
TPCC head N Uttam Kumar Reddy was invited to inaugurate the programs. Speaking on the occasion, he wished Gandhi on his birthday and lauded the leader as a visionary one and man of the people.
"Though Rahul was offered the posts of Prime Minister and Union Minister, he refused them and instead engaged himself in the service of the people. Even though he was born into a family which has occupied very high public offices, he has not shown any interest in securing similar posts. He has always dedicated himself to the service of the nation," the TPCC head said.
In another part of Telangana, Sangareddy MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy too organised a grand program on the occasion. During the program, he handed over 30 wheelchairs to handicapped persons in his constituency, and also held a free food distribution program at the district hospital.
Speaking on the occasion Jagga Reddy extended his wishes to Gandhi, and said that this was a good day to reiterate that the Congress would stand by the people of the state irrespective of whether it was in power or not. He added that he believed that the party would come to power in the state and at the Centre under the leadership of the Wayanad MP.
Sangareddy DCC president Nirmala and Youth Congress leader Jaya Reddy took part in the program as well. They extended monetary help to two orphans on the occasion.
Veteran Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao also arranged a celebratory event during which he handed over monetary aid to the wife of a Covid-19 victim Ganesh, who had passed away recently.
