With the last date for the withdrawal of nominations for the by-elections coming to an end on Saturday, as many as 67 candidates are in the fray, from 7 Assembly constituencies in the state.
According to Chief Electoral Officer Banwarlal, there are 14 candidates from Kovvur Assembly constituency, followed by 13 from Mahbubnagar, 11 from Nagarkurnool, 9 from Kollapur, 9 from Kamareddy, 6 from Adilabad and 5 from Station Ghanapur.
He said that of 103 total nominations received by the commission, 22 were rejected, while 14 candidates withdrew their nominations, including 6 from Mahbubnagar, 2 in Nagarkurnool, and one in Kollapur Assembly constituency.
The Election Commission allotted the fan symbol to YSR Congress candidate Nannapuneni Prasanna Kumar. Earlierm, too, YSR Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma was alloted the fan symbol in the elections for the Pulivendula constituency.
The commission also allotted the auto symbol for independent candidate Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who is contesting from the Nagarkurnool Assembly constituency. (INN)
