Somireddy Slams Seemandhra Ministers
TDP leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Thursday accused Union ministers from the Seemandhra region of changing their stand on a united Andhra Pradesh.
TDP leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Thursday accused Union ministers from the Seemandhra region of changing their stand on a united Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons, Somireddy alleged that the Seemandhra ministers had misled people by raising "Jai Samaikyandhra" slogans at the dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, and that a few hours later, they had changed their stand during their meeting with the Group of Ministers (GoM) on Telangana.
"While one minister demanded a Rayala Telangana, another one wanted Visakhapatnam to be made the new capital of the residual state of Andhra Pradesh. A few others demanded Union Territory status for Hyderabad," he said.
He condemned the Union ministers for not sticking to the demand of keeping the state united.
Somireddy alleged that the Congress was not according any importance to the views expressed by the state Legislative Assembly although it had wanted the MLAs to vote for its Rajya Sabha candidates.
He asked the Centre to dissolve the Assembly if it thinks that its views are of no significance. He added that in fact, the amendments and proposals made by Seemandhra leaders on the Bill have been thrown in the trash by the ruling party.
The TDP leader said that the Seemandhra leaders would approach the Supreme Court of India to stall the division of the state. He also warned the Centre of dire consequences if it bifurcates the state. He said that the day when the Telangana Bill gets passed in the Parliament would be observed as a "black day" in the history of the state. (INN)
