Left parties led by CPM state secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram today urged the Election Commission to disqualify minister K T Rama Rao from his MLA post from Sircilla for violating set norms and misusing his office.
In a memorandum submitted to Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal, Veerabhadram alleged that Rao had misused the official machinery and issued a GO 23 Home (Budget) on July 7, 2014, and passed orders giving administrative sanction to the DGP, Telangana, for Rs 312,74,91,000 to purchase 3,883 vehicles from his company Himanshu Motors.
The CPM leader told mediapersons at the Secretariat that sanctioning such a huge amount for payment to his own company was a sheer violation of norms. Therefore, KTR had no right to continue as a legislator, and the EC was urged to suspend him from that post, he said.
He also alleged that despite being one of the directors of Himanshu Motors, KTR had misled the people by stating that he was not associated with it. He said that as per the previous documents submitted to the EC during the elections, KTR had shares in Himanshu Motors.
