Congress MLA P Sudarshan Reddy today assumed charge as Advisor to the Telangana Government at the Secretariat.
Reddy, who represents the Bodhan Assembly constituency, was recently appointed as Advisor for the implementation of all flagship welfare and development schemes, with the rank and status of a Cabinet minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that he had aspired for a ministerial position but acknowledged that certain circumstances had prevented it. He affirmed his commitment to fulfilling his new responsibilities with integrity, and expressed gratitude to AICC leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for the opportunity to serve as a Government Advisor.
"We are committed to addressing the issues faced by villages. There has been little progress since Telangana was formed. The people suffered from ineffective programs under the previous administration. With the Congress government now in power, we are implementing various welfare measures such as ration cards, quality rice distribution and free bus travel for women. So far, the State government has allocated Rs 7,000 crore for these initiatives. The financial condition of the State is well known, and we will devise plans to continue the current programs," he said.
Earlier, Reddy performed special prayers with his family in his Secretariat office. Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao, along with several elected representatives and senior officials, congratulated him on the occasion.
