Former Satyam Computers chairman B Ramalinga Raju on Wednesday surrendered before the CBI Special Court, Nampally, following the directions to do so by the Supreme Court.

Earlier in the day, Raju had approached the Court and sought a few hours time to undergo some medical tests.

According to sources, Raju deposed before the Nampally Court as per the orders of the Supreme Court. However, his counsel pleaded before the court to allow his client some hours so that he may undergo some medical tests.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday had refused to grant more time to Raju to surrender in the multi-crore accounting fraud.

Raju's bail had earlier been cancelled by the Supreme Court, and he had been ordered to surrender by November 10.

Raju had then filed a petition through his counsel, seeking extension on the deadline set by the Court. The Satyam Computers founder had cited ill-health and ongoing family settlement as the reasons for extension of the deadline.

A bench comprising Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Verma heard Raju's petition on Tuesday.

Raju was released from jail on August 18 after the state High Court granted him bail. All the other co-accused had earlier been granted bail by various courts at different times.

Raju and his co-accused are undergoing trial for fudging the company's accounts to the tune of Rs. 14,000 crore. The accounting fraud is believed to be the biggest such scam in the country's corporate history.

Raju appeared before the court at 10:22am on Wednesday and pleaded before the judge to give him permission for 2 to 3 hours.

After accepting Raju's petition, the judge granted permission to Raju till 2pm on Wednesday. Raju left the court premises at 10:46am.

Raju's brother and former MD, Rama Raju, former CFO Vadlamani Srinivas, G Rama Krishna, Venkatapathi Raju and Srisailam were also present in the court to surrender.
