There is no let up in the chequered career graph of the injury-prone Indian tennis ace, Sania Mirza.
However, there was a positive development on Saturday, with her decision to go ahead with a surgery on the left knee in a premier corporate hospital in Hyderabad, India, on Saturday.
Her father Imran Mirza said that the operation was successful, and that the entire family, including husband Shoaib Malik, was present at the time of the surgery.
Undergoing the arthroscopic surgery done at the behest of doctors who treated her during the US Open in September, Sania had torn her meniscus midway through the Grand Slam event, which effectively sidelined her for several weeks.
In fact, this is the second time that she has been operated upon. Although she bounced back after an arthroscopy in 2006, Sania's injury aggravated over a period of time.
Her father is hopeful that this time the operation will enable her to return to the courts sooner. (INN)
