Restructure RTI Commission: JVV

At least 6 of the 8 RTI commissioners were nominated for posts based on political recommendations, says the Jana Vignana Vedika.
Hyderabad | 7th February 2012
The Jana Vignana Vedika, on Tuesday, demanded that the state government restructure the Right To Information Commission.

A delegation of JVV members, led by former Chief Secretary K Madhava Rao, met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his camp office at Begumpet, and demanded that the Right To Information Commission be re-structured.

They alleged that at least 6 of the 8 commissioners were nominated for posts based on political recommendations. They suspected that the Commission might not be able to perform its duties independently due to political influence.

However, the Chief Minister told the JVV delegation that a re-structuring of the Commission was not possible as all appointments were made after taking the advice of legal experts. (INN)
