Karimnagar town witnessed some violent scenes today after the bandh yesterday called for by the TSRTC employee unions' Joint Action Committee (JAC) and some political parties.
The residence of RTC driver Babu, who had died of a cardiac arrest in Hyderabad at the public meeting held by the JAC on Wednesday, turned into the hotbed of the entire action. The JAC leaders, the local MP, MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga and others had been staging a protest program at Babu's residence ever since his body was brought to Karimnagar, and it culminated in the local MP, the BJP's Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and some JAC leaders taking out a huge rally from the residence of Babu to the Karimnagar-2 depot. They raised slogans against the State government and demanded that it solve all their demands.
The local police made elaborate arrangements to avoid any untoward and violent incidents during the agitation, but some violent incidents were witnessed nevertheless.
