Rs 5 Crores For Dalai Lama Ethics Centre In City
The Dalai Lama conducted the ground-breaking ceremony for the upcoming centre in the presence of Governor E S L Narasimhan, KTR, Dy CM Mahamood Ali and others.
Announcing Rs 5 crores on behalf of the State government for The Dalai Lama Centre For Ethics And Transformative Values at Hitex, Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and IT K T Rama Rao said that the government would extend all support to it in its efforts to spread ethics and values among the people.
The Dalai Lama conducted the ground-breaking ceremony for the upcoming centre in the presence of Governor E S L Narasimhan, Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that in the light of the rapid transformations impacting India and the whole region, it was urgent to prepare the present and future leaders for the work of serving their communities, and expressed hope that the Centre would play a prominent role in that mission.
"The Dalai Lama has received several degrees from various universities, and even the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, for his unstinting services to society spreading spirituality, peace and tranquility, and influencing a large number of people across the world. We are honored to have such a person's Centre, a new South Asia hub, in the capital of the youngest State of India," KTR stated.
Speaking on the occasion, the Dalai Lama said, "I am encouraged to see the plans for the establishment of the Centre. The promotion of ethics and values has never been more important in the world. I am especially delighted to see this effort take roots in India, a country I deeply admire for its longstanding tradition of ahimsa and karuna - values that we Tibetans have tried to keep alive for several generations."
