Former Rajya Sabha member and Padmashali Sangham leader Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar has resigned from the BRS.
He sent his resignation letter to BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao.
Along with Bhaskar, senior Medak district leader Mohammed Mohinuddin, and Warangal district Vardannapeta constituency leader and State Gowda Sangham vice-president Teegala Lakshman Goud, also quit the party.
Bhaskar thanked KCR, KTR and Harish Rao for supporting him for so long.
Speaking to the media outside Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi, he said, "The BRS does not need me, and that is why I have been staying away from party activities for some time now."
He also said that he was leaving the BRS under unavoidable circumstances, and that it was not his nature to abuse anybody.
"I am humbly sending back the pink scarf, which was used to welcome me into the BRS, to Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad through post," he said.
Bhaskar said that he would play his part in the future towards helping the weaker sections achieve their aspirations and in social justice movements. He also said that he would continue to work towards resolving the employment issues of the handloom community.
He also claimed that conspiracies were being hatched to make Hyderabad a Union Territory, and said that he would play a key role in the movements to stop them. He said that he would take the issue to the notice of CM Revanth Reddy and KCR in the days to come, and that he would collect the opinions of the people on how to protect the geography of Telangana.
He said that the Revanth Reddy government was working quite actively. He also praised it for taking steps towards a caste census.
"I can't say which party I will go to. I will be in people's movements," he however said.
After 25 years in the Congress, Bhaskar first quit the party in April 2019 and joined the BJP. He later joined the BRS from the BJP in October 2022, during the Munugodu Assembly by-election. He had been elected to the Rajya Sabha while he was in the Congress.
