The state government extended a warm welcome to President of India Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday evening, at the Air Force Station, Hakimpet.
The President arrived from New Delhi by an Indian Air Force special craft called "Rajkamal", on his southern sojourn in the state, which will last till 31 December.
The President was received at the Air Force station by Governor E S L Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister C Damodar Rajanarsimha, Legislative Council Chairman Dr. A Chakrapani, GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain, ministers Dr. J Geeta Reddy and Pithani Satyanarayana, Chief Secretary Dr. P K Mohanty, local heads of the defence services , DGP B Prasada Rao and other officials.
During his sojourn, the President will be visiting Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram on 20 December. He will attend the concluding function of the Centenary Celebrations of Dr. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, former President of India, at Dr. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy Stadium at Anantapur, on 23 December.
During his stay, the President will also visit Allahabad, Agra and Mumbai. The President will leave for Delhi on 31 December, at 10:55am. (INN)
