Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy All Set To Join Congress

Expelled BRS leader and former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy is all set to join the Congress soon, his followers said.

He is going to join the Grand Old Party in the presence of Priyanka Gandhi in a huge public meeting in Khammam or Hyderabad.

Some existing Congress leaders of the district are worried about their futures due to the development. The party has a sizeable presence in the district - of the 10 Assembly constituencies in the combined Khammam district, sitting MLAs of the Congress include CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka from Madhira, Podem Veeraiah from Bhadrachalam, Kandala Upender Reddy from Paleru, Banothu Haripriya from Illandu and Vanama Venkateswara Rao from Kothagudem. And supporters of CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and former union minister Renuka Chowdhury who are hoping to get the party tickets for constituencies in the undivided Khammam district and have been extensively organising party programs in their respective constituencies. All of these people are said to be concerned about their futures with Reddy's arrival.

Indeed, Ponguleti had previously announced that he would field his supporters from all the ten constituencies of the district, and the names of the candidates were also revealed for some constituencies. Ponguleti reportedly asked the Congress high command to field his supporters in all the ten constituencies of the district. If the party high command agrees to it, them followers of Ponguleti like Payam Venkateswarlu from Pinapaka, Jare Adinarayana from Aswaraopeta, ZP Chairman Koram Kanakaiah from Illendu, Banothu Vijayabai from Waira and retired PR E E Sudhakar Rao from Sattupalli will be fielded in those respective Assembly constituencies, resulting in a lot of dissidence and possible churn.
