Police Gun Down Suspected Naxal

The operation was launched after police received intelligence inputs about the presence of Naxalites in Kishtawaram.

State police on Tuesday claimed that they gunned down a suspected Naxalite in an encounter in Kishtawaram.

According to the police, the slain Maoist's body was recovered, following a joint operation of the state police and the CRPF, in which they accosted the suspected Naxal.

The police said that the joint operation was launched after they received intelligence inputs about the presence of Naxalites in the area.

The body has not been identified yet.

The police claim that a rifle, 72 live rounds, and 2 magazines, were recovered from the site of the encounter.
