In view of the recent
communal violence in areas of the Old City, the Hyderabad City Police has imposed certain regulations on the movement of persons on 2-wheelers during the night.
In an order, City Police Commissioner A K Khan has prohibited pillion-riding on 2-wheelers except when the pillion rider is a woman or a child below the age of 14 years, in the limits of Hyderabad City.
The order will remain in force between 11pm and 6am on the intervening nights of Monday-Tuesday, until further orders.
Any persons requiring exemption from the above order will have to obtain specific written permission from the SHOs of the respective police station, by producing copies of a driving license and the Registration Certificate book.
The commissioner added that any person violating the above orders would be liable for prosecution under the law. (INN)
