OC Samkshema Sangham national president G Karunakar Reddy on Saturday warned the Andhra Pradesh government that the State would turn into a cauldron if steps were taken to reduce the 50% reservation being implemented for the OCs.
In a press note, Reddy stated that candidates from all other communities were competing with the OCs in the general category, too, and depriving OCs of chances of getting jobs. Due to this, the OCs were not getting even 10% of the 50% quota in the education and employment sectors, he lamented, and warned the government that they would launch agitations if attempts were made to slash the 50% general quota meant for the OCs.
Reddy stated that creating reservations for Kapus was impossible without reducing the OC quota. He accused all political parties of trying to cheat the Balijas and Kapus by promising to provide them reservations when it was not possible, and lashed out at the parties for making impracticable assurances to the people for sake of their votes, and provoking castes against each another.
Pointing out that the TDP government had allocated Rs 100 crores for the development of Kapus, Reddy demanded that the Chandrababu Naidu government allocate similar amounts for each of the Brahmin, Reddy, Kamma, Vysya and other upper caste communities for their development.
