No Jobs To Dependents Of SCCL Employees, Rules SC

The apex court upheld the verdict by the High Court recently that jobs could not be offered to the dependents of SCCL employees upon the latter retiring.
Hyderabad | 17th April 2017
The Supreme Court has administered a rude shock to the Telangana government on Monday in the case of Singareni Collieries Company Limited's dependent appointments.

The apex court upheld the verdict pronounced by the High Court in this regard recently that jobs could not be offered to the dependents of SCCL employees upon the latter retiring.

Singareni Collieries' workers had knocked the doors of the Supreme Court challenging the High Court ruling. Hearing the case today, the apex court observed that appointments for SCCL employees' dependents were against the Constitution.

It may be recalled that the High Court had annulled the notification issued by the Telangana government authorizing jobs for dependents in Singareni Collieries.
