A murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was filed against Forest & Environment Minister Jogu Ramanna's son Premender and nine other TRS activists.
According to reports, one Congress activist Katupally Tirupati Reddy in Laxmipur village of Jainad Mandal died under mysterious circumstances on January 7. The police thought that Reddy might have committed suicide. But the family members of the deceased and villagers suspected foul play behind his death. The relatives alleged that the death was due to a political vendetta as TRS-Congress rivalry was at an all-time high in the village.
The relatives of the deceased along with the villagers staged a protest in front of the police station alleging that local TRS leaders and minister Jogu Ramanna's son were behind the "murder".
They withdrew the agitation after the police officials assured that they would initiate action against all those responsible for the death of Tiruapti Reddy. A case was then launched and the investigation began.
However, the minister's family was contending that Premender had nothing to do with Reddy's death.
