Telangana Director General of Police Anurag Sharma today inaugurated a newly-built Model Police Station at Abids.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that police officials of all the states in the country were appreciating the people-friendly services of the Telangana police personnel.
He also said that more model police stations will be started all over the state in the near future.
The DGP added that the police department was trying to modernize the police stations as part of the Friendly Policing initiative.
In the first phase of the initiative, radical changes would be brought about in all the police stations under the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates, he said.
The DGP also disclosed that the state government had granted Rs 20 crores to Hyderabad for the construction of model police stations, and Rs 45 crores for Cyberabad.
Besides, the government had also sanctioned Rs 58.5 crores for the purchase of CC cameras for Hyderabad, and Rs 25 crores for Cyberabad.
He said that the police had also introduced cashless challans, e-challans and body-worn cameras in the city in order to prevent a bad name for the traffic police personnel.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Mahendar Reddy and several other higher police officials were present at the function.
