Hyderabad | 14th January 2026
The Telangana government has undertaken extensive preparations for the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Maha Jathara 2026.

Robust measures are being taken to ensure that no difficulties arise during the grand festival, which is expected to attract millions of devotees.

To provide continuous on-the-spot supervision of the arrangements, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka has been staying in Medaram and personally overseeing all aspects on the ground.

With an estimated three crore devotees expected this time, the minister is closely monitoring the situation to ensure seamless coordination among all departments and the implementation of a comprehensive plan to prevent any disruptions.

A total of 42,027 officials and staff from 21 departments will be deployed in Medaram and the surrounding areas for the festival. In addition, 2,000 tribal youth will serve as volunteers.

To ensure uninterrupted mobile network connectivity, 27 permanent towers, 33 temporary mobile towers and 450 Very High Frequency (VHF) sets have been installed.

For effective crowd management, the Medaram area has been divided into eight administrative zones and 42 sectors. A district-level officer has been assigned to each zone, and a mandal-level officer will oversee each sector.

Control rooms, missing persons camps and emergency response teams have been established at key locations, including the temple premises, platforms, Jampannavagu, RTC bus stand, Uratam, Shivaram Sagar, Narlapur and Padigapur, with continuous monitoring in place.

To facilitate the smooth movement of devotees, road-related issues were identified and resolved at 525 locations. The transportation network has been strengthened through the construction of new roads, repairs and culverts to support the festival traffic. To ease congestion, 42 parking areas covering 1,418 acres have been developed under the supervision of the forest and the tribal welfare departments.

A total of 5,482 drinking water taps have been installed to provide clean drinking water to devotees. 119 dressing rooms have been set up for those taking holy dips in the Jampanna stream, and the water will be regularly chlorinated to maintain hygiene.

As many as 5,700 toilets have been arranged in 285 blocks, along with additional mobile toilets. For sanitation management, 5,000 personnel have been deployed, supported by 150 tankers, 100 tractors, 18 sweeping machines, 12 JCBs, 40 Swachh autos and 16 dozers.

To ensure uninterrupted power supply in the fair area, TGNPDCL has installed 196 transformers, 911 electricity poles and 65.75 kilometres of power lines. A workforce of 350 personnel has been deployed to prevent power outages. Thousands of high-power lights illuminate the temples, the main roads and the parking areas, while 28 diesel generators have been kept ready as backup for emergencies.

To facilitate easy access to Medaram, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has deployed 4,000 buses, operating a total of 51,000 trips. Dedicated bus stands and special routes have been introduced for efficient transportation. A total of 10,441 RTC staff members will be on duty, with a plan to operate 15 buses every hour.

Health services have been strengthened with the deployment of 5,192 medical personnel. The facilities include 30 ambulances, 40 bike ambulances, a 50-bed main hospital and 30 medical camps per day. To prevent accidents in the Jampanna Vagu stream, 210 expert swimmers, 12 Singareni rescue personnel and 100 SDRF teams are continuously monitoring the area. 15 fire brigade vehicles and 268 firefighters have been kept on standby to respond to any fire incidents.

The forest department is overseeing environmental protection along with parking and road management, and tribals have been issued licences under the ITDA to run coconut, jaggery and other businesses.

Overall, with the aim of organising the Medaram Maha Jathara 2026 at a global level, the State government is working with determination and inter-departmental coordination to ensure quick darsanams, and provide a safe, comfortable and well-managed environment for the devotees.
