The City Crime Station police on Wednesday arrested a man called Patnam Maheshwar Goud and his son Vijay Pratap, following a complaint lodged by the latter's wife that the duo were physically and mentally harassing her for additional dowry.
According to sources, complainant Vishnupriya of Vidyanagar married Vijay Pratap of Bowenpally in 2009.
She said that her parents gave the groom Rs. 1 crore as dowry during the marriage ceremony. In the complaint, she alleged that her father-in-law Maheshwar Goud started demanding her to fulfill his sexual desires, and was harassing her physically and mentally.
When she brought this to the notice of her husband, Vijay remained calm, Vishnupriya said. When Vishnupriya refused to obey her father-in-law's directions, they started harassing her, demanding additional dowry.
Unable to meet the harassment, Vishnupriya lodged a complaint with the crime station police.
However, Maheswar Goud alleges that his daughter-in-law has hatched a conspiracy to separate his son from his family members and has fabricated the case.
The police have produced the accused before the Nampally court.
