The Chief Minister Kiran Reddy urged the centre to expedite TAC clearance of the the Central Water Commission for irrigation projects in the state.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday wrote to Union Minister Of Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal, asking him to expedite the clearance of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Central Water Commission for some of the irrigation projects taken up by the state government.
In his letter, the Chief Minister reminded Bansal that the state had taken up 86 major and medium projects envisaging an IP (Irrigation Potential) of 4 milliion hectares under the Jalayagnam since the year 2004.
Kiran Reddy pointed out in his letter that Bharat Nirman contemplates to create 16 million hectares of IP throughout the country. Out of this, the share of Andhra Pradesh alone is to the extent of 25% of the national target.
While profusely thanking the government of India for its support to the cause of irrigation development in Andhra pradesh through the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Program, the Chief Minister requested Bansal to expedite the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) clearance by CWC for central assistance in respect of the composite project comprising of Dr. K L Rao Sagar Pulichntala Project, and modernisation of Krishna Delta System.
The assistance was also needed in the Indirasagar Polavaram Project for the revised project cost of Rs. 16,010.45 crore, and the Indirasagar Dummugudem Lift Irrigation Scheme, Khammam.
Kiran Reddy wrote that the consent for this project had been obtained on June 19th, 2007, and the DPR was submitted to the centre on January 7th, 2008.
He also sought expeditious TAC clearance for the Rajivsagar Dummugudem Lift Irrigation Scheme, Khammam, for which consent was obtained on June 19th, 2007, and the DPR submitted on September 9th, 2007.
Besides, clearances for the Sripada Yellampally Project, Karimnagar, for which consent was obtained on August 30th, 2007, and DPR was submitted on June 16th, 2007, and the Modikuntavagu Project for which the DPR was submitted to the Central Water Commission in September 2006, were also sought.
