Responding to protests by the home guards demanding a pay hike and regularization of their services, Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that the State government was ready to discuss demands of the Home Guards with their association.
Speaking to the media, Reddy took objection to the proposed protest by CPI leader K Narayana to extend solidarity with the home guards. The home guards were not seeking Narayana's help, he said, adding that the CPI was trying to politicize the issue.
He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was ready to fulfill the demands of the security group as he recognized their honourable service and commitment.
The Home Guards, who receive only Rs. 12,000 a month for their valiant service, are urging the government to hike their pay, regularize their services, and provide health cards and other benefits on par with what government employees received.
