Days after a Dalit woman from Telangana
passed away in police custody, allegedly as a result of the brutal torture she was subjected to, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today stated that he would hold an all-party meeting at the Pragati Bhavan tomorrow to prepare the guidelines for the CM Dalit Empowerment Scheme.
The proposed meeting will start at 11:00 am. It will be an in-depth and extended discussion of the issues being faced by the Dalit community in the state as well as the possible solutions for the same.
Lunch arrangements will be made for all attendees. However, the meeting will not end with lunch. Instead, it is likely to continue for some more time.
Dalit public representatives, including all Dalit MPs, MLAs, and MLCs from all the political parties in the state, will participate in the meeting.
Reports suggest that the CM personally contacted the state Secretaries of the CPM and the CPI, Chada Venkat Reddy and Tammineni Veerabhadram respectively, to send the senior Dalit leaders from their parties for the discussions. He also invited other Dalit leaders who have a deep awareness of the challenges faced by the marginalised community, and have been working for its progress and development.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, CMO officials, and many other senior officials from various government departments will also participate in tomorrow's meeting.
