Buoyed by his party's handsome victory in the Palair by-election, TRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that the people were offering consistent support to the TRS government.
Addressing the media on the by-election results, KCR said that Palair's people had given a landslide victory to TRS candidate and minister Thummala Nageswara Rao, who won by a whopping 45,650-vote margin over Congress candidate Sucharitha Reddy.
Extending thanks to the people on the victory, KCR noted that Thummala had broken the record for the margin of victory in the Palair constituency, which was 25,000 votes earlier, set way back in 1972. Also, in the 2014 elections the TRS had polled only 4,100 votes, while this time it had gotten more than 96,000 votes, which increased the responsibility on the government and the Party, he said.
"The mandate shows the people's persistent support for our schemes and developmental programs," the Chief Minister claimed.
He also exhorted the leaders of the Party to not get carried away and turn headstrong, and instead approach the people's issues with humility.
The Chief Minister also took a dig at the Congress for launching a tirade against the TRS rule from the fifth day of his taking over as Chief Minister.
"The TRS will not hesitate to file defamation cases against the Congress if it fails to stop making false allegations," he warned.
KCR also took exception at the Congress getting the Khammam Collector, SP and other officials shifted before the election. The Centre had given a pat to Khammam's Lokesh Kumar for good conduct of the 2014 general elections, he said, but the Congress got the very same official shifted.
"Prime Minister Modi and many noted organizations have congratulated our government for its welfare schemes, and many other States have appreciated them. But the the Congress wants us to continue with outdated politics from 1947, and is resorting to mud-slinging. The Congress should play a positive role, offering constructive criticism and helping develop the State," he added.
