Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy today hit out at the Telangana government for allegedly failing to provide free Covid-19 treatment to the patients in the state.
He claimed that the Centre's Ayushman Bharat scheme was not being implemented in the state even after the KCR regime had entered into an agreement with the Centre to implement the same.
Speaking to the media at the Assembly media point, the MLC said that the lives of the poor in Telangana were being ravaged by the spread of the pandemic. He criticised the state government for not having included the treatment of Covid-19 in the list of ailments covered by its own Arogyasri scheme.
Reddy alleged that the KCR government was not taking any warnings about the onset of a third wave seriously and was not preparing accordingly. Further, he also accused the government of not even following the orders of the Telangana High Court on the regulation of the fees being charged by the private hospitals of the state for the treatment of Covid-19.
Besides this, the leader demanded that the state government provide compensation of Rs 50 lakh to all those people who had succumbed to the deadly disease.
The Congress has been quite vehement in its demand that the state government provide
free treatment to all poor and middle-class patients of both Covid-19 and Black Fungus.
