KCR Not Focused On Saving Lives: Congress MP

Congress leader and MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today lambasted Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, alleging that the latter was interested only in "collecting commissions" and not in saving the people of the state from Covid-19.

Speaking at a party meeting in Alair, the MP said that it had become a habit with the CM to forget his promises and assurances, and pointed out that he had not yet categorised the journalists of the state as frontline warriors.

In his attack, Reddy also alleged that the CM had forgotten about his promise of procuring "every last grain" of produce from the farmers of the state.

"It has become a habit of the CM to make many promises which he later forgets all about. During the pandemic too, KCR made many promises - he said that he would include Covid-19 in the list of diseases covered by the Aarogyasri healthcare scheme and also assured the people of the state that thousands of crores of rupees would be spent in the state to prevent the spread of the pandemic. However, he has not fulfilled either promise yet. I wonder why the KCR regime is so reluctant to include Covid-19 in the scheme in the first place. It is saddening that the government has failed to do this as the inclusion will greatly reduce the burden of health expenditure for the poor," he added.

The leader said that where other state governments were providing free treatment to economically disadvantaged Covid-19 patients, the people of Telangana were being "forced to sell their properties" to be able to afford treatment at private hospitals, and flayed the government for being unable to provide good quality treatment at its own healthcare facilities.

During the program, he distributed cloth face masks and sanitisers to the staff of the Yadagirigutta PHC and flagged off an ambulance at the party office.
