Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that the Monda Market in Secunderabad would be modernized without damaging the existing heritage structure.
The Chief Minister, along with Deputy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali, ministers Nayani Narasimha Reddy (Home) and Talasani Srinivas Yadav (Commercial Taxes), GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and other senior officials, inspected the Monda Market in Secunderabad on Saturday.
During the visit, KCR interacted with the vegetable vendors and heard their grievances.
After the inspection, responding to the request of the vegetable vendors and other business establishment persons, the Chief Minister said that the government would take up the modernization of Monda Market very soon. The existing facilities which were not up to the mark and causing inconvenience to the citizens would be upgraded.
He directed the officials to ensure that basic minimum facilities were provided on priority.
Mohammed Ishaq, one of the vendors from the meat market, explained the difficulties which were being faced by the meat vendors. He said that the Monda Market was in existence for the last 130 years and had been serving the citizens of the twin cities all through, but still lacked basic facilities.
Responding to the complaint, the Chief Minister assured the vendors that all necessary facilities like toilets and drinking water would be provided immediately.
KCR is the first Chief Minister in history who has visited the historic market. (INN)
