Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav on Sunday alleged that Upper Caste people were exploiting the backward class and lower caste people in the name of Telangana agitation and sentiment.
The MP's controversial comments came as Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee members called on him as part of their 'Mulakhat' program at his residence. The Mulakhat program is aimed at convincing leaders to join in the fight for a separate Telangana state.
Yadav is known to have maintained silence over the Telangana issue, but he chose the meeting to tell them that he stood solidly in favour of the separate statehood demand.
Criticizing the leaders and students who sought his resignation to the elected post for the cause of Telangana state, Yadav said that he would fight for Telangana by remaining a minister. Incidentally, he belongs to a backward class community.
The MP also lashed out at Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao, and alleged that KCR was misusing the Telangana sentiment to get all prominent posts for his family members and people belonging to the upper caste.
Yadav then added that upper caste leaders were exploiting the backward classes and lower caste in the name of Telangana agitation and sentiment.
"In the name of Telangana, KCR and his family members joined the Congress party and occupied all posts without giving a chance to weaker sections," he said, and added "How can KCR ask the backward class leaders to resign? It is not fair on the part of KCR to seek my resignation".
He added, "I want a ministerial post along with Telangana state".
