Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed happiness over the many awards received by Telugu films in the recently announced 69th National Film Awards.
The CM congratulated Allu Arjun, who won the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in
Pushpa.
"It makes me proud that a Telugu actor has won the National Award for Best Actor for the first time ever," KCR said.
The Chief Minister said that Arjun, hailing from the illustrious family of Allu Ramalingaiah and Chiranjeevi, had emerged into a great actor in his own right, and was continuing the legacy of his grandfather.
KCR also expressed his happiness that Oscar winner Chandra Bose, who had brought global recognition to Telugu film song lyrics with his creative writing, had won the National Award for Best Lyrics, and conveyed his best wishes to him.
The Chief Minister also congratulated Devi Sri Prasad, Kalabhairava, Purushottama Charyulu, and the producers, directors, actors and technical staff of many films who won the National Awards in their respective categories.
"It is a significant occasion that the Telugu film industry is showcasing its talent at the national and international level with Hyderabad as its hub. It is a great accomplishment for all of us that Telugu cinema is standing as a role model for the country in film production by winning the hearts of the audiences in not only the Telugu States but also at the national and international level," KCR added.
He also asserted that the Telangana government would continue to extend support for the promotion of the Telugu film industry, and expressed hope that Telugu cinema would expand its wings globally.
