The prestigious Kaleshwaram project works were proceeding on a war-footing in three shifts, Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said today.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the works of the project, Rao said that the Ellampally project would be completed by the upcoming monsoon. He instructed the officials to complete the remaining 20% of the work in two months.
Out of the 5.81 crore cubic metres of earth works, 4.50 crore cubic metres of works, of the Annaram, Sundilla and Medigadda barrages, were completed so far, he said. Efforts are being made to complete the works of the three barrages and three pump houses, he said.
About 80% of the cement concrete works of the three barrages and pump houses were over so far, and 70% of the canal gravity works between Annaram and Sundilla were over. 66 gates of Annaram, 86 gates of Medigadda and 74 gates for Sundilla needed to be fixed, he said. As per the plan, the officials had fixed the first gate for the Kaleshwaram project, and had now started fixing the gates for the Annaram barrage.
Rao said that the electrical works were going on very fast, and that machines for the pump houses would be imported from Japan, Switzerland and Austria in 10 days.
