Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the BRS today received another setback with its MP Venkatesh Neta, who represents the Peddapalli Lok Sabha constituency, joining the Congress.
Neta joined the Congress in the presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in New Delhi.
Former TTD Board member Manne Jeevan Reddy also joined the Congress in the presence of Venugopal and Reddy.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other leaders were also present at the event.
After joining the party, all the leaders paid a courtesy call on AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence in New Delhi.
Neta actually started his political career with the Congress in 2018. He had contested as the Congress candidate from the Chennuru Assembly constituency, and was defeated in the election. He then joined the BRS and was elected as the MP of the Pedpadalli Lok Sabha constituency.
However, there are reports that the BRS leadership is planning to change the candidate for the constituency this time, and that the ticket will be given to former minister Koppula Eshwar instead of Neta. The BRS MP reportedly sensed that, and decided to join the Congress.
