Lok Satta Party (LSP) President Jayaprakash Narayan on Monday expressed his deep anguish that while the state was headed towards a 'financial emergency', both ruling and opposition parties are busy trying to corner each other in the state Assembly.
He blamed them for their failure to address the burning issue of Telangana state formation, which in turn has affected the state administration, that has been paralysed for the past few days.
The former IAS officer said that constitutional bodies have been formed with the purpose of addressing the problems and issues of people, on a priority basis. This purpose was being defeated with the political parties adopting 'delaying tactics' on the Telangana state issue and stalling the proceedings, directly or indirectly, Dr. Narayan said.
He said that the continued 'non-functioning' of the state Assembly was not only damaging the image of the state, but also hurting the interests of investors and the business community.
"If all the parties resort to boycott calls and rallies, how can the problem be addressed? If the Telangana issue persists, the state might face a serious financial crisis soon," he pointed out.
The LSP chief appealed to members of all parties to appproach the Telangana issue with an open mind.
"It should be settled in a peaceful, calm and coordinated manner and it should be given top priority," Dr. Narayan stated.
He said that the political parties should not dictate terms to the constitutional bodies. All parties should abide by the Constitution and respect the Speaker's directions and maintain decorum in the House, he opined.
Stating that students have harmed their bright careers and precious time by participating in the Telangana agitation, he demanded that the state government free the campuses from police bandobast, and create a congenial atmosphere so that student can get back to devoting their time to pursue their academic interests.

Justice L Narasimha Reddy of the AP High Court on Thursday described the 'secret' contents of the Srikrishna Committee as full of lies and mind-boggling descriptions of non-existent things. "It is unfortunate that this report and its related exercise was presided over by a former judge of the Supreme Court," he told additional solicitor general M Raveendran. The issue came up when the judge was hearing a petition filed by former Congress MP M Narayan Reddy demanding chapter 8 of the committee report, which was submitted to the Centre in a sealed envelope, be made public. "This committee has spent Rs 40 crore of public money for preparing its report. Any person with a semblance of faith in the system of democracy would lose faith in it. The report prepared by the front office of an MP would have been more sensible than this report. Even the high command of a political party would have hesitated to prepare such a report," he noted.
